Where does my money go?

For a full explanation of how TCAF operates, visit our Financial Accountability page.

I need to stop my contributions. What happens to my sponsored child?

We understand that there may be urgent reasons why you need to stop sponsoring a child. If you must stop your contribution, we will attempt to find a new donor to take over for your child. Anytime you wish to start contributing again, you are welcome to do so.

Are other people/groups sponsoring the child I’m sponsoring?

No. Only one sponsor is assigned to each child. You are welcome to sponsor more than one child.

Are my contributions tax-deductible?

Absolutely. Today’s Children, Africa’s Future is a 501(c)(3) International Charitable Organization. All contributions are deductible from your federal income tax to the fullest extent allowed by law. Please keep all statements you receive, and consult your tax professional for how to report this contribution on your tax forms.

How long will my sponsorship last?

We hope your sponsorship of a specific child will last until the child has completed secondary school. After that, you can choose to sponsor and build a relationship with another child. In cases where a child drops out of school or moves outside the area, the child may be terminated from the program. If this happens, we’ll do our best to let you know as soon as possible. If the child is forced to stop school because of an illness, TCAF will give you the option to continue to support the child and their medical treatment.

Do I need to be a member of a specific religion or belief system to sponsor a child through TCAF?

Today’s Children, Africa’s Future is a nondenominational organization. We welcome sponsors of all religions, ages, genders, and beliefs. The communities and children we sponsor, as well as the mentors we assign, are also of varying backgrounds and beliefs.

Does the amount I give go directly to the child I sponsor?

For monthly child sponsorships, yes. If you wish to give an extra amount to your sponsored child for specific needs (e.g., clothing, mosquito nets, household items, birthdays, holidays), contact us and we’ll do our best to arrange it for you. For individual donations (one time or recurring), the amount you give each month does not go to a specific child, but is instead pooled with other donations to benefit the children we serve.
